One of the advantages of my work is that after the meeting’s over, I sometimes get to see places I wouldn’t ordinarily visit. Yesterday, it was the turn of Southend.

Situated on the Essex shore of the mouth of the River Thames, Southend is still hugely popular with daytrippers from London and elsewhere. Not exactly at it’s best yesterday in the wind and the rain. But a decent chance to get the camera out. Here’s a shot of a small fishing boat, the Hornet, beached on the mudflats.

I noticed after posting. Great minds think alike! Yours are excellent, by the way.

Nice picture. I worked in Southend from 1990-1995 but never found it as picturesque as this.

Thanks, Andrew. Was a lousy day but found a great cafe with excellent views. Spotted the boat just as I was about to leave.
